Happy Halloween, everyone!
It finally happened! I completed Rainbow-nd! Honestly, I thought I would never get here, but after over a year of messing around with LMMS and plugins and just generally not being very productive, I’ve finished all the tracks that I planned to make.
So how long did that take? August 8th, 2020? Oh dear… So… around 15 months for 7 tracks…
Well, at least I finished!
The concept this time around was for a more orchestral piece, or maybe something you’d hear out of a fantasy RPG. To me that means some heavy brass and low strings! I wanted to really lean into that menacing atmosphere, like an approaching army or the stirrings of an ancient wyrm.
Honestly, I wish I had been able to make the flute section faster. When I was first composing I kept thinking it was going too fast, but now I feel just the opposite. I guess now I want something fast and flighty to contrast against the rhythmic core of the rest of the piece…
Oh well, what’s done is done (w).
Looking back on the album as a whole, I guess I also wanted to review it in general too, but I think I’ll save that for next week! (Give me a break, it’s hard coming up with content!)
Anyway, hope you all have a Happy Halloween, and hope the track is suitably spooky!
